Upstream Production Solutions (Upstream PS) is proud to support Nick Woodhead as he prepares to trek Mt Everest, undoubtedly a personal and professional life-changing experience, raising funds for Cancer Council in the process.
Nick Woodhead, Electrical and Instrumentation Technician for Upstream PS, will be in the safe company of an experienced team that has climbed Mt Everest and many of the surrounding mountains in the region.
Cancer Council Queensland’s ‘Climb for a Cause’ is 19 day expedition lead by cancer survivor and mountaineer Sharon Cohrs. They will camp for two nights at Base Camp, sleeping in tents on the glacier and exploring the lower reaches of the Khumbu Icefall.
Nick said he is looking forward to the challenge, and doing his bit to make a difference.
“Climbing Mt Everest is a completely new challenge for me – I’ve never done much in the way of trekking before but this is about finding fulfilment,” he said.
“I’ve been training twice a day to increase fitness levels, strength and cardio and feel confident that I’m ready. I’m so grateful for the support I have received – from family and friends to my Upstream PS colleagues assisting with generous donations and fundraising activities. An adventure like this tests personal limits, but there’s also a great sense of community with people rallying around the Cancer Council cause.”

Nick will depart Currimundi on April 25 before arriving in Kathmandu on April 26 to begin the trek.
Event organiser and Cancer Council Queensland ambassador Sharon Cohrs was the first breast cancer survivor in the world to summit the mountain and together with her husband Allan Cohrs scored the title of first Australian couple to reach the summit.
“If you believe in yourself, it’s surprising what you can achieve, and I want people to conquer their own Everest - just like I did,” Mrs Cohrs said.
“Climbing Everest was a very special moment for me, something that I’ll remember for a lifetime and something that I want to share with others while making a difference in the lives of those impacted by cancer.”
Cancer Council Queensland spokesperson Katie Clift said the charity was excited to offer Cancer Council supporters such a unique opportunity.
“It’s the journey of a lifetime and funds raised will support Cancer Council Queensland’s important work in cancer research, education and patient support programs.”
