Upstream PS and CO2CRC will be sharing insights from the innovative Otway Project, Australia’s first demonstration of carbon capture and storage, during the 2017 APPEA Conference in Perth, 14-17 May.
We are pleased to announce Upstream PS is also a proud Sponsor of the conference.
In their presentation, “10 Years of successful CO2 storage and operations”, Aaron De Fina, (Cooperative Research Centre for Greenhouse Gas Technologies) and Marc Chable (Upstream PS) discuss the unique and dynamic style of concurrent projects undertaken across the lifecycle of the project to demonstrate that carbon capture and storage is a technically and environmentally safe way to make deep cuts into global greenhouse gas emissions.
“We are currently designing a fifth well, commissioning a carbon capture package to provide valuable research data on emerging membrane and absorption technologies, maintaining and monitoring the overall non-operational site and planning for a well abandonment,” said Aaron.
“This sphere of project activity across the whole life cycle requires a robust and holistic focus on management of risk, planning, implementation of right sized solutions and strong stakeholder communications”, said Marc, “whilst still following lean practices for a safe yet cost-effective operation for this world leading research project”.
